Do Not Love the World
Text: 1 John 2:15-17
Monday — Return to the Text: What Does “the World” Mean?

Thursday — Examine: Where Are Your Affections?
1. Read Romans 12:2 and Matthew 6:24. What does it mean that you cannot serve two masters?

reveal your true loves?
3. Where have you noticed a gap between what you profess and what you actually desire?
4. Pray for the Holy Spirit to create a deeper hatred for sin and greater love for Christ.
Friday — Respond: Walking in the Light
1. Read Galatians 5:16-25. How does walking by the Spirit counteract the works of the flesh?
2. What practical steps can you take this week to “renew your mind” and reject worldly patterns?
3. The sermon mentions sanctification as a process. In what area are you seeing slow but real growth?
4. Choose one specific worldly desire to actively fight against this week through prayer and accountability.
Saturday — Relationships: The World Hates Us
1. Read John 15:18-16:4. How should we respond when the world opposes or mistreat us?
2. The sermon says persecution can be a sign we are shining as light. Have you experienced any form of
this?
3. How can you love your neighbor while refusing to love the world’s system?
4. Who in your life needs to hear the hope of the gospel because they are trapped in worldly desires?
Sunday — Hope: Abiding Forever
1. Read Revelation 21:1-8. What comfort does the passing away of this world give you?
2. The sermon emphasizes that true believers persevere by grace. How does this doctrine give you
assurance?
3. Where do you need to bring your gaps (wrong desires, misplaced loves) to Jesus this week?
4. Pray: “Lord, expel worldly love from my heart by the superior power of affection for Christ. Let me
abide in You forever.”
